Cherokee Legend

My dad sent this one with this note:

Having been told by my paternal grandmother that I was part Cherokee (unverified), I was drawn to this by the title. But the story is universal.

God bless us all!

Cherokee Legend
Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of Passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it. He cannot cry out for help to anyone.
Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.

The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him . Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat
stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could become a man!
Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his
blindfold.

It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him.

He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.
We, too, are never alone.
Even when we don't know it, God is watching over us, Sitting on the stump beside us.
When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.

Moral of the story:
Just because you can't see God, Doesn't mean He is not there."For we walk by faith, not by sight."

God puts each fresh morning, each new chance of life, into our hands as a gift to see what we will do with it.

Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in Him! Phil 4:4

Under God's Wings

A little something to put things in perspective...

An article in National Geographic several years ago
Provided an interesting picture of God's wings.
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park,
Forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to
Assess the inferno's damage.

One ranger found a bird literally petrified in
Ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the
Base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie
Sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When
He gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried
From under their dead mother's wings. The loving
Mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had
Carried her offspring to the base of the tree and
Had gathered them under her wings, instinctively
Knowing that toxic smoke would rise. She could
Have flown to safety but had refused to abandon
Her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the
Heat had scorched her small body, the mother had
Remained steadfast. Because she had been willing
To die, so those under the cover of her wings
Would live.

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under
His wings you will find refuge." (Psalm 91:4)

Being loved this much should make a difference in
Your life. Remember the One who loves you, and
Then be different because of it!

Worth Watching!

Please take the time to watch this!

A 'sign' of the times.

Sign in an INDIANA Store Front window..

"WE WOULD RATHER DO BUSINESS WITH 1000

AL QAEDA TERRORISTS
THAN WITH ONE SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER!"

This sign was prominently displayed in the window of a business in Whiting,
Indiana.

You are probably outraged at the thought of such an inflammatory statement..

However, we are a society which holds freedom of speech as perhaps our greatest liberty.

And after all, it is just a sign.

You may ask what kind of business would dare post such

a sign.

Answer:

" Owen's Funeral Home"

You gotta love it!!!

God Bless America !!

Is this becoming a habit?

Why would our president
'forget' to cover his heart
when those surrounding him
are doing it? Weird, right!?!

How big is an Aircraft Carrier?

USS J F K Docking In Malta

Have you ever considered how big a U.S. Carrier really is??????

This shot gives a good relationship of its size to something else like buildings, cars etc.
My dad said, "Having lived on one for about a year, it seemed smaller than that to me. Floating on the Pacific Ocean!"

Does this include you?

Yesterday the House voted 403-12 to extend and expand the tax credit to include many buyers who already own homes. The Senate approved the measure Wednesday, and the White House said President Barack Obama would sign it today. "Buyers who have owned their current homes at least five years would be eligible for tax credits of up to $6,500. First-time homebuyers - or anyone who hasn't owned a home in the last three years - would still get up to $8,000. To qualify, buyers in both groups have to sign a purchase agreement by April 30, 2010, and close by June 30. The credit is available for the purchase of principal homes costing $800,000 or less, meaning vacation homes are ineligible. The credit would be phased out for individuals with annual incomes above $125,000 and for joint filers with incomes above $225,000."
I wanted to share with you the links to the pages that apply to the first-time home buyer tax credit and the "enhanced" version with the $6500 tax credit option.

Fired???

John Stossel is now with Fox News Channel or Fox Business Channel. He was 'let go' from ABC after he did this program.

Remember back: Geraldo Rivera was also with ABC on 20-20. He wanted to do an expose' of Ted Kennedy. ABC refused. He left. He too, is now with Fox News.

Illegal Aliens?

Fresh from our President…”I told you

illegals wouldn’t get health coverage

paid for by the tax payers.”

Where is Joe Wilson now?

How on earth did this happen???

Dad sent this one and said,

"Some of these are shocking,

but the last one is unexplainable!"
